The "modern game" is all about spin and Wilson understands spin like no other brand. The Steam 99S Tennis Racquet is engineered for hard-hitting players who use spin to curve the balls flight and control the game.
Thier revolutionary Spin Effect Technology is the first racquet system that actually increases the RPM of every shot by maximizing spin-enhancing string "snapback" during ball contact. The new Amplifeel 360 handle system provides enhanced feel with improved power. The exclusive string system gives 3.3 times more string movement with 69% faster snapback for up to 10% more spin.

6'-4", 200lb. 4.0 level baseline player with a semi-western grip. Kirschbaum ProLine II strings at #56. Singles and doubles on clay 4 to 5 days a week. I typically hit the ball hard. The open pattern of the 99s let's me swing away with my forehand frustrating opponents as they watch the ball drop in at their feet. The same swing with my previous Wilson K-Tour yielded a flatter less forgiving shot. My one handed backhands produce a similar effect whether hitting a low slice or a deep topspin. There's a lot of hype over the spin. Does the 99s provide more spin than the same racket with a tighter pattern? Probably but with any racket you'll either like it or you won't. If you already have a big topspin you should probably stick with what you've got as breaking strings could become a problem with this racket for you. If you're trying to get that ball a little higher over the net and still keep it in this may be what your looking for.
4.0 & above who want big spin
